Crescom (CEO Jae Joon Lee), an artificial intelligence medical solution development company, announced that the clinical evaluation result of MediAI-FX, an artificial intelligence automatic wrist fracture detection and analysis solution, was published in Diagnostics, an international journal published by MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute). In this study, professors from the Department of Radiology and Orthopedics at Korea University Anam Hospital participated.

Crescom's MediAI-FX is an artificial intelligence solution that automatically detects wrist fractures and analyzes the probability of fracture in three parts of a wrist. It not only simultaneously analyzes the radius and ulnar styloid fractures, but also reads the scaphoid.

In the case of the scaphoid bone, it is difficult to detect a fracture, so there are many instances where appropriate treatment is not applied. It is very important to detect abnormalities in early radiographic examinations because serious complications such as deterioration of wrist function and osteonecrosis can occur.

In this study, MediAI-FX was able to detect radial, ulnar styloid, and scaphoid fractures simultaneously, demonstrating high accuracy. It has been found to be useful in detecting scaphoid fractures, which are hard to detect. According to the study, the fracture detection sensitivities of the radius, ulnar styloid, and scaphoid were 0.972, 0.978, and 0.87, respectively, and the AUC values were 0.903, 0.925, and 0.808, respectively. When a radiologist with little experience in reading fractures did not refer to AI, the sensitivity of scaphoid fracture detection was 0.50, but when MediAI-FX was referred, it increased by nearly 50% to 0.72, proving its usefulness.

In addition to MediAI-FX, Crescom has AI medical solutions specialized in musculoskeletal image analysis.
